Summary

On February 23, 1959, around 9:17 p.m., a witness in Madisonville, Kentucky saw one bright, burning white light. It moved parallel to the horizon in a straight path and disappeared over the horizon toward the west, on a heading of about 272 degrees. The altitude and speed were unknown. The sky was clear. The witness reported it for about three minutes. This was a civilian, ground visual report.

Air traffic control reported no aircraft traffic in the area at the time. The report was filed on Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The card lists the conclusion as insufficient data to evaluate.
