Summary

On July 14, 1955, at Long Beach, California, a witness reported one object for about five minutes. The sighting was seen from the ground.

The object was round and red, about the size of a quarter held at arm's length. It appeared to drop, then rise and head west.

The Air Force card lists the conclusion as probably aircraft. The comments say the observer was in an area of heavy aircraft activity and the description could fit jet exhaust. A check with weather records showed no known balloons in the area at the time.
