Summary

On August 14, 1962, observers at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda reported a streak of light. The source was military. The time was about 0343Z. The light was in sight for about 1 to 2 seconds.

The object was a streak of bright light, pea-sized, that started orange and turned blue-white. It had a tail like a meteor. It traveled very fast in a flat path parallel to the horizon, with no noticeable dip. It first appeared at about 30 degrees above the horizon and disappeared at about the same height a short distance away. The ground was lit by bright moonlight.

The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force said the sighting had meteor characteristics.
