Summary

On April 12, 1954, around 0135 (about 1:35 a.m.) in Kansas City, Missouri, a civilian reported a single object. The witness watched it for about 20 minutes from the ground. The object was round, like a basketball, and moved from east to west at about 5,000 feet. It appeared to move against the wind. The report noted weather and wind data taken at several altitudes. Air Force analysts said the object might have been an astronomical body, such as a star. They could not reach a firm answer because positional data was not received. The official conclusion was insufficient data for evaluation.
