Summary

On September 27, 1960, civilians in Janesville, Wisconsin, reported objects at 2242 (about 4:42 p.m. local), at night. They saw starlike objects the size of a pinhead that reflected white light. A flashing light was noted for a few seconds immediately in front of the first object. The objects flew due north at constant altitude, then turned east and disappeared over the eastern horizon. The sighting lasted 2 to 3 minutes. One witness was a police officer. The sky was clear with visibility over 15 miles. Air National Guard officers found two F-86 jets were flying over Janesville at about that time at 32,000 feet. The Air Force listed the case as probably aircraft.
