Summary
On November 10, 1957, civilians near Hopkins and St. Paul, Minnesota reported a round object. The sighting lasted about 80 minutes. The object was orange, changing to bright white, and was the size of a silver dollar or baseball. It moved three times in three minutes, moving, stopping, then moving again, heading southwest.
The witnesses watched with a telescope and binoculars. Several civilians filed reports, and a police network broadcast the sighting. The sky was clear. A control tower reported a Braniff aircraft in the area at the time.
An intelligence officer said the time and location of the witnesses showed some object was seen, and from the description it could have been a star. The Air Force concluded the object was astronomical and identified it as Venus. An astronomical plot placed Venus in the exact location reported. This case is part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
