Summary
On the night of August 5, 1954, a police officer in Homerville, Georgia, reported a small round object after being alerted by another person. The sighting lasted about 10 minutes. The object was blue with sparks and moved to the northeast. It bobbed up and down at about 45 degrees elevation.
The witness watched with the naked eye from Homerville, about 25 to 30 miles east of an Air Force base. Surface winds were from the west. The report was sent through a flight service center at a nearby Air Force base.
The Air Force record card said the description indicated a balloon observation.
