Summary

On March 6, 1958, at 9:52 p.m., an airdrome officer at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico called a tower operator's attention to an object in the sky. The witness described a spherical, brilliant white object about the size of a baseball held at arm's length. It moved slowly upward in a descent pattern, apparently moving downwind. The object disappeared behind clouds after about 35 minutes. The Air Force investigation noted the object had characteristics similar to a weather flare balloon. However, the local weather station reported that no flare balloon was aloft at the time of the sighting. No physical evidence was available. The evaluation was listed as unknown.
