Summary

On April 5, 1948, trained balloon observers at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico reported sighting an object. The object was gray-white in color and round with an indistinct form. It was large in size and moved faster than any aircraft. The object traveled at a very high altitude and was visible for 30 seconds. It moved in an erratic pattern, completing a large loop after descending, then soaring upward and disappearing suddenly. The sighting occurred near the ground. No Air Force evaluation is provided in the available document.
