Summary

On December 5, 1960, at 6:05 p.m. in Herman, Pennsylvania, two witnesses observed a circular object with a pulsating red light on one side and an oblong fluorescent glow on the other. The object was stationary at an estimated 1000 feet altitude. After about one minute, it began moving northward, then reversed direction and accelerated westward at high speed. A small aircraft passed overhead, allowing witnesses to contrast the two objects. A second similar object appeared from the south, moving west-east. Both sightings lasted seven to eight minutes total. The Air Force evaluation was unknown.
