Summary

In late April 1963, a civilian resident of Port Allen on the island of Kauai, Hawaii reported seeing a bright, star-like object moving slowly across the sky from west-southwest to east-southeast. The sighting occurred on April 24, 1963 at 1867 hours (approximately 6:47 p.m. local time). The object was observed at high altitude and appeared to move at a slow speed across the observer's line of sight.

The Air Force noted that jet aircraft were conducting high-speed test runs in the area at the time of the sighting. The evaluation suggested the object could have been an aircraft, though investigators acknowledged that the slow speed and star-like appearance presented some questions. The file notes that an "ECHO" radar contact was visible to the southwest and southeast of the observer's position at the reported time, which investigators considered when attempting to identify the object.

The case was evaluated as "Possibly Aircraft," though the file does not provide a definitive conclusion about the object's identity. The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives across 8 pages.
