Granby, Quebec, Canada, October 1962October 1962
Summary
On October 14, 1962, at about 3:00 p.m. local time, a senior engineering technician in Granby, Quebec, Canada, reported three objects. The time was about 1900Z. The sky was bright daylight. Each object was in sight for about 5 to 6 seconds, and the three appeared at about 14-second intervals.
The witness described three objects brighter than the sky, like a car headlight a block or two away. They were solid white, sharply outlined, and shaped like long ellipses or oblate spheroids on edge. He estimated their length at about 200 feet and their altitude at 6,000 to 12,000 feet. They moved in a straight line from west to east, with their long axes parallel to their direction of travel. They did not change shape, brightness, or color, made no sound, and left no trail. They disappeared into clouds at about 45 degrees elevation in the east-northeast. He estimated their speed at about 2,000 mph.
The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force said the objects were probably three aircraft on a route, with the 14-second interval being the spacing between aircraft on an associated flight.
