Project Blue Book Case File
Godman AFB, KentuckyJuly 1953
Summary
On July 11, 1952, a witness at Godman Air Force Base, Kentucky, reported an object in the night sky. The source was an Army officer.
The object stayed in view for about three hours. The witness took several pictures of it. The card notes that during this time the planets Venus and Jupiter were low in the sky, with Venus a few degrees above the horizon and Jupiter near the horizon. The object appeared bright and seemed to shine through different colors. It would seem to disappear near daylight.
In Project 10073, the Air Force's official record system for unidentified flying object reports, this case was marked as astronomical. The Air Force concluded the object was probably a star or planet.
