Summary

On June 17, 1949, at about 3:30 p.m., a driver near Glendale, California noticed something bright catching the sunlight. The observer was traveling by car in the Glendale area, roughly half a mile southeast of Grand Central Airport, when the reflection caught their attention.

The observer watched two metallic, oval-shaped objects approach from the northeast. The objects appeared to be about one inch in size when viewed from approximately four and a half miles away. They cruised along the San Fernando Valley, then took off rapidly toward the northwest. The entire sighting lasted about one and a half minutes. The sky was clear with visibility of about 30 miles.

The objects disappeared rapidly in the distance within seconds. No photographs were taken, and no physical evidence was recovered. The observer viewed the objects through the windshield of their car, and the weather conditions were clear.

The Air Force investigation included interviews with the witness and cross-referenced the report with other sightings on the same day in the San Diego area. The Air Force ultimately concluded that no data presented indicated the objects could not have been aircraft.
