Summary

On January 12, 1951, near Elba, New York, a woman and her 6 year old son reported a moving object with a bright white light, seen from a window of their home. The report is part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The mother wrote a letter describing the sighting. She said her young son pointed out a bright white light, and when she said it was a star, he insisted it was moving fast. She watched it move out of sight over Batavia. She noted that airliners passing overhead showed colored blinking lights, while this object had just one steady white light.

The record card lists the flight as straight, level, and at a consistent speed, following an airline path with no blinking light. The Air Force listed its conclusion as a probable aircraft sighting, with no information presented to indicate otherwise.
