Summary

On September 19, 1956, near dawn, a military observer in East Rochester, New Hampshire reported four circular white objects about the size of a penny held at arm's length. The objects first formed a straight line and then a square. They faded out, reappeared, and finally faded out.

The objects were first seen at about 40 degrees azimuth and last seen at about 45 degrees azimuth. They were watched with the eye for about 45 seconds. The skies were clear. A senior director noted the objects were probably aircraft lights. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably caused by aircraft.
