Project Blue Book Case File
Duluth, MinnesotaDecember 1957
Summary
On December 31, 1957, a civilian in Duluth, Minnesota reported seeing an unidentified object. The sighting lasted between three and five minutes. The Air Force had sufficient reason to file the report, but the case appears incomplete in available records.
According to the cover sheet, the sighting took place in 1957 but was reported to the Air Force much later. By the time investigators reviewed it, the account was considered too old to pursue further. The file notes that "information provided is insufficient for evaluation," and the case was marked as "unknown" in the Air Force's official determination.
The scanned case file contains 12 pages, though most consist of reference materials unrelated to the Duluth sighting itself, including astronomical newsletters, reports on unrelated UFO incidents from Brazil, Connecticut, and other locations, and a summary table of sightings from early 1958. The OCR text on pages two through five is too severely garbled to extract any details about what the Duluth witness actually saw or the circumstances of the observation. No photographs or physical evidence are mentioned.
The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives.
