Summary

In April 1958, a farmer in Cuzick, Kentucky observed a fiery object fall from the sky and land on his property. The next day he found a cone-shaped object resembling a missile nose cone, along with what he described as tape of unknown composition. He kept the object for several weeks before his son, an employee at the General Electric Company in Ohio, brought it to his company's security office in mid-June. The security officer then reported the discovery to the Air Force.

The Air Force Technical Intelligence Center requested photographs and a detailed report on the specimen. The cone-shaped object was forwarded for analysis to determine whether it might be part of military ordnance or some other known equipment. An initial examination by the Air Technical Intelligence Center's Armament Branch concluded that the item could not be identified by their office. The case was then passed along to another Air Force branch for further review.

The file notes that the object was made of a material resembling bakelite (a type of plastic), not metal. No photographs or additional technical analysis results appear in the available portions of this case file. The Air Force's final determination on the object's identity is not stated in the declassified material. The full case file of 10 pages is reproduced below as held by the National Archives.
