Summary

On October 30, 1960, residents of Crescent City, California observed a series of unidentified objects in the sky. Witnesses reported seeing a total of six round, white objects, with one appearing red. The sightings occurred in three separate groups, moving generally westward across the sky.

The first group appeared at tree-top level, the second passed overhead, and the third was a single object that moved overhead toward the northeast. Witnesses described the objects as bright lights. One object dropped lower and hovered in place, and it also appeared to twinkle. The second group rotated in a circular pattern while maintaining some relative position to each other. The observation lasted approximately 30 minutes.

The Air Force investigated the sighting and found no radar confirmation of the objects. A check of the area also showed no aircraft in the vicinity at the time. An initial request for a complete investigation was sent but had not been received as of December 1961. Because of insufficient information available to the investigators, the Air Force listed the case as unidentified.
