Project Blue Book Case File
COVINGTON OHIO, November 1952November 1952
Summary
On the evening of November 10, 1952, a man living west of Covington, Ohio reported seeing a brilliant blue light in the sky to the northwest of his home. The light appeared to bob up and down, though he could not estimate how far away it was. He told the Air Force that he had seen the same light at least six times over the previous two months, always in roughly the same location. Neighbors, including a couple named Pearl and Mrs. Etter, had also observed the light.
When the Air Force duty officer contacted Patterson Air Force Base operations after receiving the report, a dispatcher explained that a B-29 bomber was flying in the area north-west of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base at the time. The B-29 was testing photographic equipment at various altitudes. The file does not state whether the Air Force concluded that the light was the B-29 or arrived at any other final assessment.
The case file contains a standard Air Force questionnaire and summary form but no formal investigation report or official conclusion. The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, comprising 10 pages.
