Insufficient Data

Summary

On a June evening in 1960, a resident of Coudersport, Pennsylvania saw two unusual objects in the sky. The objects approached each other, joined up, changed direction, and then disappeared over the horizon. The sighting lasted about twelve minutes and occurred in the early evening with the objects initially visible toward the east and finally disappearing toward the west.

The witness did not report the sighting until two years after it happened. When the Air Force received the report, it found the information sketchy and noted that nothing in the account conflicted with the objects being aircraft. The form evaluation on the case cover sheet lists "unknown" as the official conclusion, though the comments section notes that the sparse details and delayed reporting made a thorough assessment difficult.

The case file includes a full technical questionnaire sent to the witness by the Air Force's Foreign Technology Division, along with routing memoranda indicating the report passed through multiple levels of the Defense Department. No additional analysis, radar data, or investigative follow-up appears in the available records.

The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, consisting of 16 pages of scanned documents.
