Summary
On May 29, 1955, both civilian and military witnesses in Colorado Springs, Colorado reported one object. It was reported by phone to the duty officer at the headquarters of an Air Force intelligence squadron. The sighting lasted about thirty minutes.
The duty officer and other personnel saw a large, white, circular object with a package attached. It drifted slowly to the west.
The Air Force record lists the conclusion as a Moby Dick balloon. A check with Lowry Air Force Base showed three Moby Dick balloons were released during the day on May 29, 1955. One of them was plotted to be over Colorado Springs at the time of the sighting. There was no report in the file.
