Summary

On June 2, 1955, a civilian and a military witness in Cleveland, Ohio saw a single object. The civilian was a Ground Observer Corps member and the other was a technician sergeant. The sighting lasted about fifteen minutes. The object moved eastward.

The object was round, about the size of a half dollar held at arm's length. It moved eastward very slowly at an estimated height of 500 feet. It appeared yellow, red, and orange. Binoculars were used.

The Air Force record lists the conclusion as a balloon. Officials noted the traits matched a balloon. A balloon launched from a research laboratory was estimated to be over the area at the time of the sighting, which supported the balloon explanation.
