Summary

On March 2, 1961, around 7:30 p.m. local time, witnesses in Cincinnati, Ohio, reported a white object that looked like a streak of light. It was seen for a few seconds and traveled due north.

The object moved on a horizontal path at about 30 degrees elevation and crossed a distance estimated at about 20 degrees of sky. No sound was heard. It resembled a rocket blast in shape and gave the impression of great length. It just seemed to fade out. A second witness, about 20 miles east of the first, placed the object directly overhead.

The Air Force card states the object has all the characteristics of a very bright meteor. It notes it is not unusual for a person's first experience with an outstanding meteor to lead to misidentification, and that there is no evidence the object was anything other than a very bright meteor.
