Summary

On about October 3, 1956, near 10:20 p.m. local time, a civilian near China Lake, California reported luminous objects in the sky. The objects were seen for about nine seconds and moved from north to south.

The Air Force ruled out an aircraft because of the short duration. It said the sighting was most probably a meteor, while noting that light reflecting off birds was also possible. The case was evaluated as probably a meteor.
