Summary

In February 1958, a retired miner in Lake City-Powell Station, Tennessee reported seeing a bright red object with a fiery tail traveling across the sky at great speed and very high altitude. The object was described as roughly the same size as the fiery tail that trailed behind it.

The U.S. Air Force recorded the sighting but the OCR text of this case file is heavily garbled and largely unreadable beyond the initial case card. While the cover sheet indicates the Air Force evaluated the sighting, it is not possible to determine from the available text what investigation was conducted, what witnesses were interviewed beyond the retired miner, or what conclusion the Air Force reached. The file notes characteristics consistent with a meteor, but the garbled nature of the remaining pages prevents a fuller account of the analysis.

The complete case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives across 89 pages of microfilm (T1206, Roll 32).
