Summary

On December 8, 1956, an observer near Chandler Air Force Station, Minnesota, reported a single round object. The sighting was logged under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The object was white turning to green and looked about the size of a baseball held at arm's length.

The witness said the object came toward the earth at about 20 degrees, then leveled off and started a slight climb before fading. It was watched for 20 to 30 seconds. There was no sound and no trail. Airmen at the station said it first looked like a falling star but were surprised by its change in altitude and speed.

The Air Force evaluated the case based on the object's look, how long it lasted, and its flight path. The record card concluded the sighting was probably a meteor, with the slight rising motion treated as an optical illusion.
