Summary
On November 16, 1961, a military pilot near Bryan, Texas, reported an object at about 11:37 a.m. local time (1737 Zulu). The pilot was flying a T-33 jet at about 3,200 feet, heading 260 to 280 degrees. He noticed a line of black smoke that ranged from his altitude down to the ground, at an angle of about 60 degrees. The smoke disappeared near a military camp facility around 1741 Zulu. The pilot suspected it was a missile firing. The sighting lasted about 4 minutes. The Air Force noted the witness's location matched a restricted missile area. It listed the case as a probable missile.
