Brainerd, MinnesotaNovember 1956

Insufficient Data

Summary

On November 14, 1956, a civilian saw one object over Brainerd, Minnesota. The witness was a housewife and ground observer who noticed the object while driving a car. The object was watched for about one minute during the day.

The report described an oblong object the size of a basketball. It was silver on the top and bottom with a black stripe in the center. The object was descending toward the ground and went out of view. The sky was cloudy. A sheriff checked the area and found only tracks that may have been made by a small aircraft.

The Air Force record card lists the case as insufficient data. The preparing officer thought it was very possibly a balloon released by a local research organization, but all known balloon projects in the area were checked with negative results. Project 10073 was the Air Force's official record system for reports of unidentified flying objects.
