Summary

On April 17, 1952, at 9:23 a.m., a radar operator at a station near Benton, Pennsylvania, detected three objects on radar moving east at 210 knots. The target appeared to be a normal radar return from aircraft in formation with a strong target return. The objects were tracked for 20 minutes until 2:32 p.m., when they were intercepted. Two F-94 fighter aircraft were scrambled and made an intercept at 2:32 p.m. One object was identified as a B-17 aircraft numbered 8543. The Air Force concluded the sighting was aircraft.
