Summary

On June 29, 1962, civilians near Ayoayo, Bolivia, about 35 nautical miles south of La Paz, reported an object. It was seen falling between noon and 1:00 p.m.

Three witnesses described a fiery silver object falling from the sky. The report was relayed by the U.S. air and army attaches in La Paz, who conducted a ground search of the area. The search party was unable to locate anything on the first attempt and planned to continue with a larger group and aircraft.

This report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force noted there were no satellite re-entries on that date. Officials considered the object a meteor.
