Summary

On August 26, 1960, a civilian, his wife, and three children saw an object from their yard in Andover, Massachusetts, at about 7:30 p.m., during sunset. The sighting lasted about three minutes. The object was silver, flat, and square, with a short cigar-shaped nose. It had a dome or half globe on the bottom that glowed orange or orange-yellow. It was about the size of a pursuit type plane and moved from east to west at about 300 miles per hour. It did not leave a trail or make a sound. It descended and then went out of sight behind trees. The witnesses lived near Logan Airport. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably one of the Air National Guard aircraft based at Logan, which had underslung tanks painted with orange Day-Glo.
