Summary

On October 19, 1952, at Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts, airmen observed a blinking white light that flew upward, then moved in a pendulum-like motion for about 20 minutes before shooting straight up at a terrific speed. The object made no noise and showed no means of propulsion. Three airmen from the barracks at Falmouth, Massachusetts, including S/Sgt Richard W County, A/1c James M Barren, and A/2c Edward P Robinson, watched the sighting for 15 to 20 minutes under clear skies with unlimited visibility. The sighting time ran from 11:32 p.m. to around midnight. An F-94 aircraft was seen making an approach to a field for landing during the same period. The Air Force evaluation was unidentified.

12. COMMENTS:
1. Conflict in THX on length of sighting (23300 to 0030Z) and (subject soon for 15 to 20 minutes).

2. Description sounds like balloon, but time doesn't coincide at all with scheduled launches.
