Summary

On October 14, 1954, at 8:56 p.m., a civilian in Agawam, Massachusetts reported seeing a bright object in the sky. The object appeared to have a convex shape on top and bottom and shone with the brilliance of a full moon. It was observed at 40 degrees elevation and 180 degrees bearing. The sighting lasted approximately one second. The object moved southward and disappeared below the horizon. The Air Force concluded the sighting was astronomical in nature, specifically a meteor.
