Summary

On the night of June 13 to 14, 1953, military aircrew over the Pacific reported a light. The sighting happened during an encounter between an RB-29 aircraft and an unidentified aircraft near 4430N, 13718E.

One crew member saw what looked like an afterburner flame. The flame shut off abruptly during the pass. Later, the same crew member had a chance to watch an F-94 afterburner in operation. He reported that both sightings looked identical.

The Air Force noted that a full report on the whole incident was being prepared. The Air Force listed the case as aircraft.
