Summary

On November 2, 1962, at 2:50 a.m., a very bright greenish object about half the size of the moon was observed from a ship at latitude 43 degrees 25 minutes north and longitude 67 degrees 00 minutes west in the Atlantic Ocean. The object appeared at a bearing of 070 degrees true and an altitude of 45 degrees. It traveled straight downward to an altitude of about 3 degrees. When it disappeared, it was about the size of an orange. The object was visible for 5 seconds. A civilian observer on the T.M.S. Irving Glen reported the sighting. Weather conditions were blue sky with no wind, calm sea, barometer 1031 millibars, and air temperature 52 degrees Fahrenheit. The Air Force evaluated this as a meteor.
