Summary

On March 13, 1963, a CIRVIS report from C-121 aircraft described a sighting near 4.35N 176.41W in the Pacific Ocean. At approximately 8:45 a.m. local time, the crew observed a small object the size of a pin with no visible propulsion. The object appeared 40 degrees over the western horizon and moved from west to east at very high speed and altitude. It was visible for 5 minutes before fading from view. The Air Force noted the direction may have been wrong for a satellite and that the object's extreme altitude would prevent some features from being identified. The evaluation was marked insufficient data for evaluation.
