Summary

On January 2, 1959, at 2:00 a.m. local time, a military observer at a location in the Pacific (35.05 North, 129.57 East) reported sighting an object traveling from west to east along the southern horizon. The object had brilliant illumination and a clear sky. The sighting lasted four seconds. The observer reported the object traveling on a general course of 120 degrees magnetic heading with a speed calculated at 127 degrees magnetic bearing. The Air Force concluded this was a typical observation of a meteor.
