Summary
On July 30, 1962, a military observer in the Pacific Ocean reported a bright white object. The position was about 34 degrees 15 minutes north and 153 degrees 28 minutes east. The time was 0953Z.
The object was brighter than a first magnitude star. It headed east-southeast and reached a maximum altitude of about 80 degrees. It then dropped and disappeared at about 30 degrees, on a bearing of 105 degrees true. The sky was clear.
The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force said the object was probably a satellite. Tracking data for a known satellite was not available.
