Summary

On March 14, 1962, an observer about 100 miles north of Midway Island reported one object on a northerly track. The object was as bright as a first magnitude star and was watched for about 15 minutes as it moved to the northeast. The Air Force compared the position with the known track of the Echo I satellite and found it was visible from that location at that time, heading northeast. The record card concluded the sighting was Echo I.
