Xenia, OhioOctober 1947

Insufficient Data

Summary

On October 20, 1947, a female civilian in Xenia, Ohio reported seeing a silver, round object about 12 inches in diameter traveling at fast speed at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,500 feet. The object was moving in a straight course. The witness reported the sighting on the same date. The Air Force investigation concluded that the information was insufficient to determine any possible astronomical or other origin of the object. The lack of details, inability to rule out meteoric explanation, and absence of a definitive interpretation made a conclusive determination impossible. The Air Force could not rule out that the object was a daylight balloon or slow-moving solid, but found this improbable based on the limited information offered.
