Summary

On June 10, 1956, near Winchester, California, a civilian reported one object. It was a ground visual sighting at about 10:20 p.m. local time. The object was in view for about 2 minutes.

The object was disk shaped and about the size of a half dollar held at arm's length. Its color was white to a light pink. It was seen about 10 degrees above the horizon in the west. The object moved in a straight line, then made a very fast 180 degree turn and faded out.

The witness was 35 years old. The sky was clear with unlimited visibility. The Air Force concluded on its Project 10073 record card, the official record for unidentified flying object reports, that the object was probably an aircraft. The card noted the duration, maneuvers, and flight were consistent with that analysis.
