Summary

On June 28, 1953, at 8:23 p.m., a civilian airline pilot near White Plains, New York reported observing one circular, slightly elongated dark object. The object was approximately 5 inches in diameter, traveled at 245 miles per hour, and was sighted at about 2,500 feet altitude. The object was observed traveling northeast. The sighting was reported by the pilot of a Luscombe aircraft over White Plains, New York, heading toward Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. The Air Force evaluated this sighting as unidentified and found insufficient data to determine the object's identity as of September 1953.

INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR EVALUATION. This case was not received at ATIC until Sep 53. Although the description is similar to a weather balloon within a light, there is insufficient supporting data to determine the identity of the object.
