Summary
On February 22, 1961, around 4:03 a.m. local time, a weather detachment at Webb Air Force Base, Texas, reported a luminous streak in the sky. The observation was made by the detachment, a military source.
The object was a bright flash that lasted about two seconds. It looked like a shooting star but traveled on a more level than downward path. Its elevation angle was about 15 degrees, and its azimuth was between 280 and 290 degrees.
