Summary

This case concerns a sighting near Warrenton, Virginia, in June or July 1956. The witness, an Army specialist who was a civilian when he wrote the report, described it in a letter dated April 1958. He could not fix the exact date. He saw 6 or 7 lights for about 5 to 7 minutes around 2 a.m.

The witness was walking near Rockville, Maryland. He first saw a single glowing light down a hill near a house, larger than a simple bulb. More lights then rose one above the other, each about 2 feet across. They glowed steady white and swayed slowly from side to side as they rose. He estimated he was about 200 yards away. The lights made no sound. They later settled back toward the ground and did not reappear.

Air Force officers noted the report came two years late, which made investigation worthless. The Project 10073 record card, the official record for unidentified flying object reports, listed the conclusion as an other, unreliable report because it was too old.
