Summary

On November 5, 1957, at 8:02 p.m., a civilian in West Port Washington, Washington reported sighting a round, white, medium-sized object that remained stationary and then faded away. The sighting lasted 15 minutes. An astro plot showed Venus to be in the southwest approximately 20 degrees above the horizon at the time. Major C.W. Finnegan, Senior Controller, believed the sighting to be Venus, the evening star. The Air Force evaluated the sighting as unidentified.
