Project Blue Book Case File
W of Del Rio, TexasNovember 1957
Summary
On the night of November 24, 1957, a 37-year-old sales clerk near Del Rio, Texas saw something odd in the sky. He described it as a round, red object about the size of a baseball. It looked like a ball of fire and was very bright. The man watched it for roughly ten minutes before it disappeared behind a hill.
The object appeared to move slightly up and down as it hung in the sky about four miles away and roughly 1,000 feet high, heading generally west. The witness reported clear skies and mild conditions. The only photograph or radar confirmation mentioned in the file is noted as "none."
The Air Force investigators who reviewed the case considered whether the object might have been an airplane. In their final notes, they wrote that while the witness had provided limited information, they could not properly evaluate the sighting. The official evaluation concluded it was unidentified.
