Summary

On November 9, 1956, around 2 a.m., a military observer near Destin, Florida sighted one long narrow-shaped object. The object appeared as large as or larger than a B-36 bomber. It displayed a series of bright orange lights or flames relatively close together and larger than the present operational aircraft afterburner exhausts. The object moved very high in the sky. It was observed air-visually for four minutes. The course was listed as see below. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably caused by an aircraft. However, airborne observer data sheets were sent to sources to obtain a clearer picture of the aircraft type involved. No report was filed.
