# Summary

In November 1956, a lieutenant colonel and pilot of a DC-3 aircraft flying over India near the border with Pakistan reported seeing a bright, metallic object about three feet in diameter. The object moved from left to right across his flight path at high speed and constant altitude. It showed an apparent swinging, oscillating movement.

The pilot reported that the object made a sudden, sharp turn almost at a right angle without slowing down or stopping. The object was oval or disc-shaped with no visible cabin or cupola. It appeared solid and metallic, with a brilliant yellow color. The sighting occurred during clear weather conditions with excellent visibility.

The Uruguayan Air Force's Centro de Investigación de Objetos Voladores Inidentificados (Center for Investigation of Unidentified Flying Objects) analyzed the report. They noted three key characteristics of the object's movement: its shape, its abrupt maneuvers, and its oscillating motion. The analysts suggested that the oscillating movement might relate to the object's interaction with Earth's magnetic field, hypothesizing that an automatic device could be analyzing and adjusting to magnetic forces before executing a sharp maneuver.

The pilot indicated he was accustomed to seeing such objects and did not attach great importance to the sighting. According to the pilot's statement, such objects had been observed previously in mountainous regions. The Uruguayan investigators concluded that the report described an unidentified flying object of the type known as a "flying saucer."
