Summary

On February 5, 1950, witnesses at the Falmouth Airport in Teaticket, Massachusetts, reported two unusual objects in the western sky. The time was about 5:10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The account came from a newspaper article forwarded to the Air Force, based on observers including the airport owner, a former Navy fighter pilot, and an Air Force lieutenant.

The witnesses described two bright, cylindrical or cigar shaped objects high in the western sky, about 25 degrees above the horizon. The objects were not attached to each other and appeared to maneuver, at times converging and then drifting apart. Observers said a fireball or burning object dropped from one of them, described as ablaze with no smoke. The sky was clear at the time.

The witnesses said the objects then climbed high in the western sky at great speed and were lost from view. Several observers said the objects did not resemble any conventional aircraft, jet, or weather balloon they knew of. The file records the report as drawn from press accounts of experienced observers.
